GIGGLE, GIGGLE ALL THE WAY

There were two things at the top of my giggle-o-meter this week.

First giggle. My esteemed colleague had devised a sales promotion to “encourage” the telesales team to get their fingers out (as it where).

Each sale entitled the seller to select a sealed envelope inside of which was either a £10 voucher or an inspirational word.

“I would prefer to win an inspirational word. Why don’t you just tell us what they are now?”

“Then you wouldn’t have a reason for wanting to win”

“Oh that’s mean”

“OK then, I’ll give you one inspirational word – P45!” Brilliant, or what?

Second giggle. Watching Celebrity Who Wants to be a Millionaire with OG last night I said

“She reminds me of Jean”

Anneka Rice?"

“No, Penny Smith!”

“She’s nothing like Jean, Anika Rice is animated”

“So is Penny Smith”

“But nothing like Anika Rice”

At this stage I decided to drop out of this silly conversation. After a while OG pipes up “Don’t go in a mood just because you’re wrong”

“Wrong, wrong, how can you say I’m wrong? MY conversation, she reminds ME of Jean, how can that be wrong?”

Now we are both in a mood.

Immediately after this exchange of unfriendly fire I had a conversation with my grandson Morgan (the City economist). He relayed a conversation he had had with Vinnie recently when they both agreed that their granddad was one of the wisest men they knew. He said he always seemed to know the right things to say and the right advice to give. Are we talking about the same man here?

And finally …. I believe that just because two people argue it doesn't mean they don't love each other. And just because they don't argue it doesn't mean they do love each other.

Yeah....... that's really true. We argue all the time!

Not sure if I have done a wise thing allowing my old man & my son to work together, underpinning the kitchen this week..... weather permitting. They might easily end up killing each other!!!!!!!!!
Two very opinionated people & me butting in too..... should be interesting!

Oh me and himself get on great but we have our wee moments of misunderstandings and we yet we still love each other. It is healthy to have opinions and disagree. The people that I never trust are the ones who put on a show of great lovey doveyness in front of others when you know it's all a show and they'd probably happily sink a hatchet in each other's heads when left alone together!

Good luck with that one Maggie!

Me too MOB, I'm one of these in the mind out of the mouth people and so is OG. Marriage made in heaven?

Hi Retiredandcrazy,
Wise words! and I agree that a healthy relationship is one where both have their own opinions and argue over them! :D
All the best,
Donnie

I have to agree OG really is one of the wisest people I know also. I think it must be that he has been through a lot but at the same time has learnt a lot from these experiences. And when he imparts the information he really puts it in terms that you can understand.

I miss OG!

Absolutely!! Men are always right aren't they? Or so we women have to make them believe, just for a bit of peace.

Hi Donnie thanks for your visit. OG and I are certainly opinionated! That much I do know.

Retiredandcrazy said...

.....and we certainly have a sense of humour Anne, we have to!

I loved the P45 thing too Billy. Not PC but great humour.

Aw shucks Ashley, that is such a nice thing to say. I relayed your remarks to OG and he said, and I quote, "fuck off". He is such a succinct sort of guy isn't he?

Retiredandcrazy said...

That's the secret isn't it CJ? Make them think they are great. I read something years ago:

The surest plan
to make a man
is think him so

Profound or what?!

I'm glad that the P45 thing has been taken in the context it was said VM, with humour. I think that it's a "one liner" to end all "one liners".

P45? Oooh, scary, but funny!

My husband is always right and I've often teased him about it. There was a bit of a problem, though, when eldest son grew up, because he is always right, too. Middle son doesn't suffer in that way, but youngest son is always right, too. I'm always right, of course - I just don't have the need to shout about it. ;0)

Mac swears that I start arguments just to get a rise out of him...he's a fibber, I start arguments with him mainly because he's wrong...lol...

Oh, and at the end of that, I AM Jean - running around with blue tooth head-phone at work, wish I looked as young as both Anika and Penny, in fact wish I was either. However the chance to have as amicable an argument would be great.Enjoy those moments as much as you enjoy the regular times - they don't last forever. xxxxx

I laughed when he said you were in a mood because you were wrong.

How does that happen? I've never understood that one either!
